The Epaulet is a student-funded, quarterly literary magazine that began publication in 1940, under the sponsorship of the head of the English department. Until 1968, the Epaulet was published three times a year, with an occasional summer issue also printed. The motto of the Epaulet was "Not Words, but Thoughts and the Manner of Expressing Them Make Literature."
